Lot 452: Two Japanese Porcelain Items including a Shibata Landscape Plate and an Imari Style Lidded Box
This lot comprises two pieces of Japanese porcelain. The first is a circular plate featuring underglaze blue transfer decoration depicting a traditional landscape scene with gnarled trees and mist, bordered by a blue geometric fret pattern and a gilded rim. The base of the plate is marked with a square blue seal containing four characters and the printed name SHIBATA JAPAN. A gold-toned paper distributor label is also present, marked SAMPLE, No. 056-01-01, RO(JAPAN) LTD, and TAJIMI, JAPAN. The second item is a circular lidded porcelain box decorated in a polychrome Imari style with iron-red and cobalt blue floral motifs and gilded highlights. The underside of the box features a square seal mark in dark grey containing two vertically aligned Japanese characters. Both items date to the late 20th century.
