Lot 475: Two Portable Cassette Recorders including a National Panasonic RQ-305SD and a GPO WC162B
A lot comprising two portable cassette recorders: a vintage Japanese model and a modern retro-style unit. The first unit is a National Panasonic RQ-305SD vintage portable cassette recorder, manufactured by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. in Japan. The cabinet is constructed from black textured plastic and features a perforated metal speaker grille and an integrated carry handle. Controls consist of front-mounted piano-key style buttons for Record, Rewind, FF, Play, Stop, and Eject. The device includes an Auto Stop function and a built-in condenser microphone. Identification marks on the rear plate specify the model number, serial number E4610625, and power requirements of 240V AC or 6V DC. The second unit is a GPO WC162B portable cassette player and recorder, manufactured by ProTelX Ltd (UK). It is housed in a silver and black moulded plastic cabinet with top-mounted push-button controls for standard tape functions. The unit features an integrated speaker, built-in microphone, and a red recording indicator light. The top face is printed with the GPO logo surmounted by a crown. A rear sticker provides model information and electrical specifications for use with an AC/DC 6V adaptor or four 1.5V C-size batteries. A UK 3-pin power lead is included with this unit.
