Lot 48: A Vintage Union Wooden Machinist Tool Chest with a Collection of Engineering Tools
A mid-20th-century wooden machinist or toolmaker chest manufactured by the Union Tool Chest Works. The cabinet is constructed from hardwood with a fall-front panel that conceals a multi-drawer interior containing seven drawers of varying sizes, each fitted with a small metal pull knob. A leather-covered metal carry handle is mounted to the top. The interior of the fall-front panel features an incised oval maker mark reading UNION. The chest is sold with a collection of metalworking and precision engineering tools and accessories. These include a metal thread gauge marked METRIC 60 and OPEN, various drill bits, taps, countersink bits, socket set components including sockets and extension bars, a sharpening whetstone, and a metal rule. Also present are vintage tins, including a rectangular tin for Boots Iodized Throat Tablets and a small circular blue tin for Stuarts Micrometer Blue.
