Lot 489: A Pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Bon-bon Dishes by Walker and Hall, Sheffield, 1911
A pair of Edwardian sterling silver bon-bon or sweetmeat dishes of matching design. Each dish features an octagonal recessed centre with a plain finish. The wide, decorative borders are worked with embossed floral, foliate, and scroll motifs, incorporating pierced openwork and finished with a shaped, scalloped rim. Both dishes are fully hallmarked on the interior rim with the following marks: the maker mark W and H within a flag-shaped shield for Walker and Hall (John Edward Bingham), the crown symbol for the Sheffield Assay Office, the lion passant standard mark for .925 sterling silver, and the date letter t for 1911.
