Lot 537: Two Murano Style Art Glass Figurines
This lot consists of two pieces of hand-fashioned art glass. The first figurine is a stylised bird, possibly a duckling, executed in the sommerso technique with a deep amethyst purple core encased within clear glass. The piece features a smooth, rounded form with a small pulled glass beak and a ground, polished base. The second item is a pair of amber-toned swans with slender, elegantly curved necks and detailed wings with pulled and crimped glass in a lighter honey-amber shade. Both swans are fused to a single, heavy oval base of dark, near-black glass. These pieces are characteristic of mid-20th-century Italian glass design from Murano, although neither item bears a visible maker’s mark or signature.
