Lot 570: A Collection of Antique Brass and Steel Shotgun Cartridge Reloading Tools
This collection comprises an assortment of antique shooting equipment for shotgun cartridge reloading, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The primary item is a bench-mounted cartridge turnover tool, or roll crimper, constructed from brass and steel with a G-clamp mechanism and a crank handle finished with a turned dark wood knob. The collection further includes a dipper-style powder or shot measure with a turned wooden handle and metal cup, a secondary smaller metal measure cup, and a pair of pincer-action metal moulds for casting lead bullets or balls. No distinct manufacturer stamps or patent marks are visible on the components.
Condition report:
The tools are in good antique condition, showing signs of use and age-related wear. The metal surfaces exhibit a general patina with minor oxidation and pitting, particularly on the steel and iron elements. The mechanical components appear to be in working order but have not been tested for functionality. The wooden handles are well-preserved with typical surface abrasions consistent with age.
