A Japanese boxwood (tsuge) netsuke carved in the form of a recumbent horse. The horse is depicted with its legs tucked under its body and its head turned back over its shoulder. The carving includes incised details to represent the mane and tail. The base features two himotoshi cord holes of differing sizes. Located between these holes is an incised two-character signature for Masayama (正山). The surface exhibits a warm, honey-coloured patina.
