Lot 608: An Australian Aboriginal style hand-carved hardwood boomerang
This boomerang is an example of Australian Aboriginal style ethnographic art, hand-carved from a single piece of dark-toned hardwood, possibly mulga or a similar indigenous timber. The construction follows the natural grain of the wood, showing visible tooling marks and a polished surface finish. The decoration features two bands of hand-painted geometric patterns. These bands comprise repeating chevron or arrowhead motifs executed in traditional ochre tones of white, yellow-tan, and dark brown. The item bears a white rectangular auction label with the text Lot 809. No artist signatures, impressed marks, or manufacturer labels are visible on the surface.
