Lot 638: Two Pieces of English Art Pottery including a Royal Doulton Ashtray
A collection of two pieces of English art pottery. The first is a Royal Doulton earthenware ashtray of circular form featuring four cigarette rests to the rim. The piece is finished in a mottled drip glaze with tones of olive green, brown, and cream. The base is stamped with the Royal Doulton factory mark consisting of a crown above a lion and four interlocking D characters, alongside the word ENGLAND. It is further marked with the model number 4402, incised initials LW 02, and a small stamped eg. The second item is a small bulbous pottery vase with a flared neck and four small loop handles applied to the shoulder. It is decorated in a multi-coloured drip glaze in varying shades of blue, green, and cream. This piece is unmarked.
