Lot 676: A Collection of Eight Vintage Decorative Wall Plaques after Old Master Paintings
A collection of eight vintage decorative wall plaques, comprising four larger rectangular boards with cut corners and four smaller octagonal boards. Each piece features a colour print reproduction of a famous artwork mounted to a wood-effect base and finished with a decorative cord or braid trim to the outer edge. The subjects include several eighteenth-century female portraits and seventeenth-century Dutch-style genre scenes. Identifying labels are present on some items, including La Comtesse de Tillieres after Jean-Marc Nattier and Mlle. Sophie Arnould after Jean-Baptiste Greuze, both noted as being from the Wallace Collection. Another plaque is identified as The Laughing Cavalier after Frans Hals. Other scenes depicted include a tavern interior and a domestic scene of a woman sewing.
