Lot 743: A Mid-20th Century Oak Leaded Glass Display Cabinet in the Jacobean Revival Style
A mid-to-late 20th-century oak display cabinet or bookcase, designed in the Jacobean revival style. The unit is of single-piece construction, crafted from oak with a dark-stained finish. It features twin doors with leaded glass panes in a decorative geometric diamond pattern. The vertical front stiles are decorated with carved repeating nulling or guilloche motifs. The cabinet sits on a shaped plinth base with a decorative apron. The interior includes notched wooden supports for adjustable shelves; however, the shelves are absent. The doors are fitted with brass-effect metal hardware including external butterfly-style hinges and decorative pulls. The aesthetic is characteristic of furniture produced by Wood Bros (Old Charm) or Jaycee. No maker’s marks are visible.
