Lot 788: Irene Cafieri, Autumnal Woodland River Landscape, Oil on Canvas
An oil on canvas painting by Irene Cafieri, depicting a woodland river scene in autumn. The composition features a small waterfall in the mid-ground and a misty forest background, rendered in a palette of ochres, yellows, and earthy greens. The work is executed in a modern impressionistic style with heavy impasto and textured brushwork used to define the foliage and tree trunks. The painting is signed in the lower right corner I. CAFIERI. It is housed in a dark, multi-stepped wooden frame with a reddish-brown finish. The verso shows the canvas stretched over a wooden stretcher frame and bears a handwritten label on the lower right corner of the frame which reads ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING BY IRENE CAFIERI, dated 2010. An illegible manufacturer’s stamp is present on the reverse of the canvas.
