Lot 867: An Assortment of Decorative Folding Hand Fans and Small Parasols
An assortment of decorative folding hand fans and two small parasols. The collection features fans with leaves of paper and textile, supported by sticks and guards made of wood, bamboo, and a white moulded material, possibly celluloid or plastic. The decorations consist of hand-painted and printed motifs, including roses, cherry blossoms, traditional East Asian landscape scenes, and calligraphic inscriptions in script. One fan displays a purple and cream ombré effect, while another features a dark ground with floral patterns and pierced, decorative guards. The two parasols include one with a purple striped fabric canopy and a long fringe on a wooden handle, and another with a white canopy and lace-trimmed edge. The lot is accompanied by several magazines titled Images of War. An auction lot tag numbered 867 is attached to one fan, and a separate label numbered 666 is present on the wooden surface.
