Lot 979: A reproduction George III style mahogany pedestal desk
A mid-to-late 20th-century pedestal desk of traditional George III design, constructed from mahogany-finished wood with veneers. The rectangular top features an inset maroon leather-effect writing surface within a crossbanded border. The desk comprises a central frieze drawer flanked by two smaller drawers, supported by twin pedestals, each containing three drawers, providing a nine-drawer arrangement in total. Each drawer is fitted with brass swan-neck bale handles on shaped backplates and features a central keyhole. The piece is raised on a plinth base terminating in bracket feet. No maker marks or labels are visible on the exterior or interior of the drawers.
