Lot 404: A Trio of Mason's Patent Ironstone Mandarin Pattern Graduated Plates
A trio of graduated circular plates produced by Mason’s in their Patent Ironstone ceramic body. Each plate is decorated in the Mandarin pattern, featuring an intricate floral and foliate design executed in an Imari-inspired palette of cobalt blue, iron red, pink, and yellow, further enhanced with gilt highlights. The decoration consists of transfer-printed outlines with hand-painted overglaze enamel colours. Each piece features a scalloped rim with a gilded edge. The reverse of each plate bears a brown printed manufacturer’s mark consisting of a crown above a ribbon inscribed PATENT IRONSTONE, with ENGLAND above the ribbon and the pattern name Mandarin in cursive script. The name MASON’S is arched at the base of the mark. Also present are hand-painted pattern numbers in red, C 4329 and CR, alongside three blue painter’s dots.
