Lot 415: A Set of Nick Chapman Studio Pottery Stoneware
A set of contemporary studio pottery by Nick Chapman (born 1954), comprising hand-thrown mugs and a matching plate. The pieces are crafted from stoneware with visible throwing rings to the interiors and unglazed, gritty reddish-brown foot rims. Each piece features hand-painted and incised sgraffito decoration. The circular plate is decorated with a central yellow and blue bird on a branch surrounded by floral sprigs, finished with a gold lustre rim and blue concentric bands. The mugs are individually decorated with wildflower motifs, including yellow blooms and blue thistle-like flowers, each accented with a gold lustre band at the rim and blue trim. All pieces bear a circular blue monogram mark characteristic of the maker, located on the underside of the plate and near the base of the mugs.
