Lot 462: A Collection of National Geographic Real Life Bugs and Insects Specimens in Resin and Accompanying Field Guides
A collection of fifteen natural history specimens, each encased within a clear rectangular acrylic resin block. Every block contains a printed label identifying the common name and geographic origin of the specimen. The collection is presented in a black plastic display case. Identified specimens include a Lanternfly (Thailand), Burrowing Cockroach (China), Red Scarlet Flower Beetle (Thailand), South-east Asian Beetle (Myanmar), Black Stink Bug, Tiger Centipede (Canada), Eastern Butterfly Bug (Taiwan), New Guinea Stag Beetle (New Guinea), Deep Mountain Beetle (Taiwan), Giant Jewel Beetle (Thailand), Gaudy Grasshopper (Angola), Papua New Guinea Jewel Beetle (Papua New Guinea), Real Fire Beetle (Philippines), and a Death Beetle (Indonesia). One specimen in the second row features a faded, illegible label. Accompanying the specimens is a stack of National Geographic educational field guides from the Discover Their Amazing Secret Lives series. Visible titles include Part 14: Moths and Butterflies, Part 15: Moths and Butterflies, and Part 26: Crustaceans. The guides are housed in their original clear plastic protective sleeves. This set was produced as part of a multi-part educational subscription series.
