Lot 495: Royal Doulton Porcelain Figurine Biddy Pennyfarthing HN 1843
A Royal Doulton polychrome glazed porcelain figurine titled Biddy Pennyfarthing, model number HN 1843. The figurine depicts an elderly female street vendor dressed in a dark grey headscarf, a lavender patterned blouse with a black necktie, a dark grey shawl, and a full cream-coloured skirt. She is shown carrying a large bunch of eight balloons in shades of red, purple, green, orange, and yellow. A wicker basket filled with yellow flowers is strapped to her back, and she holds an additional small bouquet of yellow flowers in her right hand. The base of the figurine bears a green Royal Doulton factory mark featuring a lion standing atop a crown over a circular emblem with four interlocking D shapes, surrounded by the text MADE IN ENGLAND and ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND. The title Biddy Pennyfarthing and model number HN 1843 are applied in script. Small hand-painted black marks are visible adjacent to the factory stamp.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration. The glaze remains bright and lustrous with no significant wear or crazing observed.
