Lot 595: A Trio of Goebel Hummel Porcelain Figurines including The Builder, Boots, and Soldier Boy
A trio of glazed porcelain figurines manufactured by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik, West Germany, based on the original designs of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. The collection comprises: ‘The Builder’ (Model 305), depicting a young girl in a blue striped dress and red neckerchief carrying large bricks; ‘Boots’ (Model 143/0), featuring a young boy in a blue apron and brown trousers carrying multiple pairs of shoes; and ‘Soldier Boy’ (Model 332), showing a boy in a red military-style jacket with yellow frogging and a peaked cap holding a rifle. Each figure is finished in characteristic muted polychrome glazes. The undersides bear factory marks including the printed blue stylized bee inside a V mark, W. Germany, and various incised model numbers and copyright dates for 1955 and 1957. ‘The Builder’ retains its original gold foil title label on the front of the square base.
