Lot 599: A Collection of Decorative Kitchen Ceramics including Cottage Ware and a Beehive Honey Pot
A collection of ceramic items comprising earthenware cottage ware, a beehive-shaped honey pot, a brown-glazed lidded pot, and a contemporary stoneware vessel. The cottage ware group includes multiple pieces of moulded earthenware representing various buildings, including teapots, a milk jug, and lidded jars. One large thatched-roof teapot features a separate woven cane handle, while a smaller version includes an integral ceramic handle. A specific lidded jar is relief-moulded with the words Pixie Cottage above the door. The honey pot is formed as a traditional skep with relief bees and a bee-shaped lid finial, accompanied by a white spoon. The brown earthenware pot is finished in a deep lustrous glaze with a domed lid. The stoneware vessel is cylindrical with a speckled oatmeal-coloured glaze and a stylized dark brown botanical motif. These items are visually characteristic of mid-20th-century English regional pottery, such as Price & Kensington or Keele Street Pottery, but are sold as unattributed due to the lack of visible marks.
