Lot 610: An Huge Collection of Denby Greenwheat Pattern Stoneware Tableware
An extensive collection of approximately 70 pieces of mid-20th-century British stoneware dinner and tea service items in the Greenwheat pattern, designed by Albert College for Denby. The pieces are decorated with hand-painted stylised wheat ear motifs in shades of green, blue, and reddish-brown on a cream ground. Many items feature a deep forest green glaze to the interiors and lids, with matching dark green line borders. The collection includes a wide variety of forms such as dinner and side plates of various sizes, multiple mugs, two bulbous teapots, several lidded tureens and serving dishes including a lidded skillet-style server, a group of egg cups, a salt and pepper shaker set in a fitted stand, lidded sugar bowls, creamers, rectangular serving trays, and lidded butter or preserve boxes. One piece bears the printed mark Made in England and the hand-painted signature for Albert College.
