Lot 66: Vintage Wrought Iron Arched Garden Gate with Horseshoe Detail
A single pedestrian garden gate of wrought iron construction, designed in an early 20th-century British vernacular cottage style. The gate features a rounded arched top and is filled with decorative scrollwork infill. A central geometric floral motif is present, comprising radiating spokes and heart-shaped scrolls. A distinctive horseshoe is integrated into the scrollwork on the left-hand side, a traditional symbol often associated with good luck in domestic architectural salvage. The gate is constructed with a flat bar frame and a combination of rounded and square decorative bars. It retains its original side-mounted hinges and a lower sliding bolt or latch mechanism. A modern white adhesive tag is present on one of the horizontal bars, bearing characters that read as either £ 7. 6 6 or S 7 6 6. No maker’s marks, stamps, or historical inscriptions were found during inspection.
