Lot 765: Mid-20th Century Oak Chest of Eight Drawers With Key
A mid-20th century oak chest of eight drawers, constructed with oak primary surfaces and light-toned secondary timber used for the drawer interiors. The piece features a tall, narrow profile with eight drawers of uniform depth. Each drawer is fitted with an integral horizontal wooden bar handle. The drawers are constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints. The top drawer includes a single keyhole, for which the key is currently absent. The drawer interiors are lined with period newspaper clippings dating from the late 1960s, including advertisements and television listings for BBC-2 and ITV London Weekend. This utilitarian design is consistent with mid-century office or collector storage furniture. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps were observed on the exterior or visible interior portions of the chest.
