Lot 809: A Trio of Vintage Stoneware Items From the Denby, Arabesque Patterned Range
A trio of vintage Denby stoneware pottery pieces in the Arabesque pattern. The collection consists of a cylindrical lidded storage jar or casserole featuring integrated lug handles and a domed lid, a rectangular lidded butter dish with a recessed V-shaped handle, and a shallow oval serving dish. The decoration consists of hand-painted stylized circular and floral motifs in ochre, yellow, grey, and brown glazes, applied over a dark chocolate-brown matt ground. This range was designed by Gill Pemberton and launched in the early 1960s. There are no visible manufacturer marks on the items. A small white paper lot label is attached to the interior of the oval dish.
