Lot 830: A Pair of Victorian Beech and Elm Lath-Back Windsor Chairs, Attributed to Samuel Roe of Worksop
A pair of regional English lath-back Windsor chairs, consisting of one armchair and one side chair. The construction features solid, shaped elm seats with prominent grain, while the spindles, turned legs, and top rails are fashioned from beech. Both chairs have six vertical laths set into the seats, topped with wide, curved rails. The armchair has out-swept arms supported by turned uprights. All legs are decoratively turned. A handwritten dealer or auction label on the armchair seat identifies the maker as Samuel Roe of Worksop and notes the materials as beech and elm.
