Lot 900: Two Framed Collections of Embroidered United States and British Army Formation and Unit Insignia
A pair of framed assortments of mid-20th century military formation and unit patches, featuring examples from the United States Army and British Army. The collection encompasses tactical, divisional, and theatre command insignia dating from World War II through to the Vietnam War era. US Army units represented include the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagle), 2nd Armoured Division (Hell on Wheels), 1st Cavalry Division, 11th Airborne Division, 3rd Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Division, 35th Infantry Division, 75th Infantry Division, 77th Infantry Division (Statue of Liberty), 199th Light Infantry Brigade, II Corps, VII Corps, 5th Army, 8th Army, and the 67th Armoured Regiment. British Army insignia include the 14th Army, 43rd (Wessex) Division, West Africa Command, Middle East Command, and Headquarters Middle East Land Forces. A fabric version of the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) is centrally featured. The patches are constructed from embroidered fabric and are mounted on a green card backing with typewritten identification labels. Several labels are incorrectly positioned or misidentified relative to the adjacent patches. The entire collection is housed behind glass in a simple wooden frame.
