Lot 933: Early Victorian flame mahogany commode bedside cabinet
An early Victorian flame mahogany commode or bedside cabinet of narrow proportions, likely of English origin. The piece features a hinged lid that opens to reveal an interior divided into three compartments, constructed with a softwood secondary carcass. The exterior is decorated with well-figured flame mahogany veneers on the lid and main door panel, bordered by raised mouldings. The unit stands on a shaped scroll plinth base. Hardware includes turned wooden knobs with decorative concentric circular inlays and brass hinges. No maker’s marks or labels are visible. A loose brass key is present.
