Lot 1058: Mid-century Modern Bow-front Sideboard with Formica and Gilt-toned Detailing
This lot comprises two pieces of late 19th or early 20th-century English provincial furniture, consisting of one armchair (carver) and one side chair. The chairs are constructed with mixed hardwood frames, likely ash or beech, and solid elm seats that feature a prominent, well-figured grain. Both chairs follow a lath-back design, with a curved crest rail positioned above five flat vertical spindles or laths. The armchair is fitted with out-swept scroll arms supported by turned spindles. Each piece has a solid, shaped seat and is raised on ring-turned legs united by H-frame stretchers. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the items, although several modern paper auction and price stickers are present on the surfaces.
