Lot 1092: A Contemporary Light Wood Veneered Extending Oval Dining Table and a Set of Six Matching Chairs
A Jacobean Revival style gramophone cabinet constructed from oak with a dark stained finish, dating from the early 20th century. The cabinet features a rectangular top with a moulded edge above a frieze carved with a repeating foliate guilloche motif. The front is fitted with two cupboard doors having applied beaded borders forming central rectangular panels, which open via twin brass drop-loop handles. The interior reveals a decorative wooden fretwork panel with a gothic style lancet design and fabric backing, serving as a speaker grille, situated above a storage compartment with a central divider intended for records. A metal winding crank handle is present on the right-hand side of the cabinet. The piece is supported on four substantial bulbous cup and cover turned legs, which are joined by a shaped perimeter stretcher and terminate in block feet.
