Lot 1180: Simon Combes, Protecting the Flanks, Framed Wildlife Print
This framed photomechanical print, attributed to Philip D. Hawkins, depicts the Great Western Railway (GWR) King Class steam locomotive No. 6023 King Edward II hauling the Cornish Riviera Express. The scene captures the locomotive passing a station platform where several figures, including a young boy and a dog in the foreground, watch its progress. The work is presented in a muted, monochrome blue-toned palette. A signature is visible in the lower right corner, though not clearly legible, it is consistent with the artist Philip D. Hawkins. The print is housed behind glass with a double cream-coloured mount and set within a dark-stained wooden frame.
