Lot 129: A Pair of Vintage Wooden Boat Oars
A pair of traditional wooden boat oars, likely constructed from a hardwood such as ash or spruce. The oars feature solid circular shafts that taper towards the handles and transition into flat blades. Each oar is fitted with a black rubberised button or sleeve, intended to protect the timber from wear against rowlocks and to prevent the oar from sliding through. One blade is reinforced with a non-ferrous metal band, exhibiting a heavy green verdigris patina indicative of copper or brass. The wood displays a natural grain and a weathered finish. A paper lot tag marked 129 is attached to one of the shafts.
