Buyer's Premium:

A large blacksmith’s anvil of traditional London pattern design, resembling those produced by established British makers such as Mouse Hole Forge or Peter Wright. The anvil features a conical horn, a rectangular working face, and a square heel. The heel is equipped with a square hardy hole and a smaller circular pritchel hole. It stands on a waisted body with four integral feet. The entire piece has been overpainted in a pale green and grey finish. No maker’s marks, brand names, or weight stamps are clearly visible on the body or base, as any original markings may be obscured by the current surface finish. The form is characteristic of tools used in British smithies during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
