Lot 156: A Vintage Three-Section Folding Hardwood Surveyor's Level Staff
A British cabinetmaker’s workbench of heavy softwood construction, predominantly pine. The piece features a thick, rectangular work surface with several integrated square dog holes. The storage configuration consists of a single drawer set into the front rail with a recessed carved handle, above a base containing two columns of three drawers, each fitted with turned wooden knobs. The workbench is equipped with a cast iron quick-release woodworking vice mounted to the front rail, bearing cast marks for Record, model number 52, and registered design number 664709, confirming its manufacture in England. The construction is robust, designed for industrial use, and features a mix of through-tenons and nailed joins.
