Lot 209: A Victorian Style Cast-Iron and Slatted Wood Garden Bench
A collection of weathered terracotta and earthenware garden pots of various sizes and forms, presented in three nested groups. The assortment includes traditional tapered garden pots and straight-sided cylindrical forms. One group consists of a large terracotta pot with a heavy rim containing smaller nested pots, including one example with a green-glazed rim. A second group features a pot with a textured greyish-white rim. The third group contains a straight-sided dark earthenware cylinder holding a smaller off-white ceramic pot. The pieces are primarily made of unglazed terracotta and earthenware, with some displaying surface weathering, lichen, and moss consistent with outdoor use. Several pots bear handwritten inventory numbers in black ink on their interior surfaces, including 477 and 777. One smaller pot in the central group has a metal screw through its drainage hole. A lot tag from a previous sale is attached to one rim.
