Lot 34: Mid-20th Century Forged Steel Manual Wire Fence Strainer
A vintage agricultural manual wire fence strainer, also known as a tensioner or puller. The tool is constructed from heavy-duty forged or cast iron or steel. It features a long, tapering lever handle connected to a central triangular pivot assembly. This assembly includes two integrated hooks and is attached to a large C-shaped bracket at the terminus, designed to grip fencing wire or anchor against a post. The design is a traditional pattern common in mid-century British farming. No manufacturer stamps or model numbers are visible on the metal surface. The item currently bears two paper labels: an auction lot tag for HCP Auctions South West (Lot 034) and a smaller handwritten label marked 67.
