Lot 386: An Assortment of Vintage Cottage Ware Style Ceramics, Typhoo Mixing Bowls, and Hotel Souvenir Slippers
A collection of ceramic items comprising three large planters and various tablewares presented in a cardboard box. The collection includes three large cylindrical planters: one with a matte light tan glaze, one with a matte pale pink glaze and a speckled interior, and one featuring a metallic-effect bronze exterior with a faceted geometric texture. These planters are in the style of mid-century modern designs attributed to Gainey Ceramics. The tableware selection includes several white ceramic mugs, a number of which are finished with a gold-toned rim. Also included is a small white ceramic cream jug and a matching lidded sugar bowl, both decorated with black transfer-printed floral and scrollwork patterns. The group is completed by a long, rectangular white glazed ceramic serving dish and two plain white ceramic bowls of varying sizes. A handwritten auction label within the box identifies the lot as 2010 Bowl + Cups. No maker’s marks are clearly visible on the items in their current orientation.
