Lot 579: A Collection of Decorative Lead Crystal and Glassware Including Cut Bells and Frosted Lotus Coasters with Examples From Royal Doulton, Crystal D'Arques, Dartington Crystal and Sudety
This collection comprises elephant-themed decorative items including novelty teapots and figurines of varied materials. The largest item is a ceramic novelty teapot modelled as a seated elephant with a honey-tan glaze, featuring hand-painted floral motifs and a geometric border containing repeated wanzi symbols. The lid is formed by the upper part of the head and trunk. A smaller ceramic teapot is rendered in white with stylized polychrome painted details in green, pink, and red. The collection includes a large, heavy walking elephant figurine carved from a dark-stained hardwood, possibly ebony, with inset white tusks. Two further carved wooden elephant figurines are present in medium and reddish-brown tones with visible wood grain. A small pale figurine of a trumpeting elephant is made from a textured composite material or carved soapstone. One wooden figurine bears a white auction label for Lot 580. No manufacturer marks are visible on the pieces.
