Lot 713: UK 1839 Queen Victoria Una and the Lion Silver-Toned Medal
This lot comprises three brass-toned coins and a rectangular wooden storage box. The coins are cast from a copper alloy and feature a traditional central square hole. The reverse faces display Manchu script identifying the ‘Boo Chiwan’ mint (Board of Revenue, Beijing). The obverse faces show characters for ‘Qianlong Tongbao’, signifying the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1735–1796) of the Qing Dynasty. The softened casting details and surface finish indicate these are modern decorative reproductions. The accompanying wooden jewellery box features a lid with a decorative quartered-veneer pattern and is lined with a dark red velvet-type fabric. The box is fitted with brass-toned hinges and a front swing clasp.
