Lot 741: A Trio of Glassware comprising a Royal Scot Crystal Rose Bowl and a Pair of Leonardo Ease Trophy Murano Style Abstract Art Glass Sculptures
A vintage calligraphy set presented in a traditional fabric-covered case with a red velvet-lined interior. The collection includes two brushes with bamboo handles and animal hair bristles, featuring original protective caps and hanging loops. A carved stone inkstone displays a dragon in low relief to the upper reservoir. The set includes a rectangular ink stick decorated with gilt dragon and phoenix motifs, and two carved soapstone seals with shishi finials. Also included are three blue and white porcelain items: a dragon-decorated seal paste container, a mountain-form brush rest, and a small water dish. The bamboo handles feature incised characters in white and red script. The interior lid has a handwritten label stating “Vintage Japanese Calligraphy Set (unused) 1983”. While the label identifies the set as Japanese, the style is consistent with calligraphy sets produced in East Asia for the gift and export market during the late 20th century.
