Lot 773: A Collection of Hand Carved African Decorative Wooden Items Including Salad Servers and Napkin Rings
A collection of ceramic items featuring a variety of decorative and utilitarian styles. The group primarily consists of British cottage-themed earthenware, including a large biscuit barrel with a relief-moulded thatched roof and a faux-wicker handle, a matching teapot, and a cream jug. One of these pieces bears the hand-painted title Ye Olde Cottage in green script, a style characteristic of mid-20th century manufacturers such as Price Kensington or Keele Street Pottery. The collection also features a yellow-glazed beehive-shaped honey pot with a moulded bee finial, and a small square lidded jar in the form of a house with a red roof and blue walls. Additional items include a tall cylindrical stoneware mug with a speckled grey glaze and a dark brown stylized floral motif, and a deep brown glazed circular lidded storage crock. Several pieces carry auction labels from Liskeard Auction Rooms.
