Lot 778: A 19-Piece Maxwell & Williams White Glazed Porcelain Breakfast Set
This lot comprises two vintage cup and saucer sets of Japanese and American manufacture. The first set is Noritake porcelain, featuring a sage green glaze ground. The flared cup and matching scalloped-edge saucer are decorated with hand-painted gold-gilt stylised floral starburst motifs and sweeping curved lines. Both pieces have a gold-gilt rim. The base of the cup displays a gold-printed backstamp consisting of an M within a wreath, flanked by the words HAND PAINTED JAPAN, identifying it as a Morimura Brothers Noritake piece. The second set is Fire-King milk glass produced by Anchor Hocking, USA. The rounded cup and matching saucer are made from translucent pale blue vitrified glass, commonly known as Azur-ite, and finished with a gold-gilt rim. The base of the cup features the embossed rectangular mark FIRE-KING OVEN WARE.
