Lot 921: A Brass-Toned Mother and Child Uplighter Floor Lamp
A large earthenware twin-handled jardiniere of globular form produced by Grimwades Ltd under the Winton trade name. The exterior features a textured stippled green ground divided by a horizontal black enamel band decorated with hand-painted sprays of purple lilacs and pink roses amongst green foliage. The vessel is finished with a moulded egg-and-dart style rim and two ornate scroll handles, both embellished with gilded highlights. The base bears a green transfer-printed maker mark featuring a crown above a banner with the name Grimwades, the trade name Winton, and the location Stoke-on-Trent, England. A small N is visible to the lower right of the mark, and a hand-painted character P is located above it.
