Lot 968: Early 20th-century stained hardwood open-fronted tabletop bookcase
This lot comprises a collection of international folk art and decorative wooden items. Included is a hand-carved mask fashioned from a coconut husk, featuring painted geometric patterns in red, yellow, and black pigments, with the natural coconut fibre used to represent hair. The assortment contains a wall-mounted wooden shelf with a dark stain, constructed with three vertical slats and decoratively shaped horizontal supports. Also present is a group of turned wooden napkin rings of varying sizes, with several featuring carved leaping deer or gazelles. Further items include a circular woven bamboo lidded basket, a turned light-coloured hardwood plate, two carved wooden sticks, a small painted decorative sphere, and a piece of weathered wood bearing an auction lot label numbered 971. There are no maker’s marks or signatures visible on any of the objects.
