Lot 972: A 20th Century Louis XV Style Painted Coffee Table
A group of decorative souvenir items and porcelain pieces. The collection includes several black-glazed ceramic items from the Japanese Art of Chokin series, comprising plates and a small dish. These pieces feature central etched metal inserts gilded with 24 carat gold and silver, depicting motifs such as peacocks on branches and floral arrangements. Labels and backstamps confirm these as part of The Art of Chokin series, made in Japan. Also included is a large black-ground porcelain souvenir plate titled Cyprus – The Island of Venus with gilded borders and topographical illustrations, as well as a smaller Cyprus map plate with a 24 carat gold trim sticker. The lot contains a silver-toned metal plate depicting landmarks of Brugge and a small plate featuring a San Francisco cable car. An oval-framed piece of white lace art depicting a cathedral is inscribed GENT. Completing the lot are a white porcelain plate decorated with floral and fruit motifs and a silver-toned napkin ring or ornament set with two red heart-shaped stones.
