This lot comprises three separate items: a sterling silver-handled button hook, a Christofle silver-plated dining knife, and a Mappin and Webb silver-plated dessert knife.

The first item is an Edwardian button hook featuring a filled sterling silver handle and a steel shaft. The handle is decorated with stylized foliate scrolls in relief. It bears a full set of British hallmarks on the collar, including the maker mark LSG inside a rectangular punch for Laurence Smith and Co, the lion passant denoting sterling silver purity, the uncrowned leopard’s head for the London Assay Office, and the lowercase date letter u in a three-lobed shield indicating the year 1915. The steel shaft is stamped ENGLISH MAKE STEEL.

The second item is a dining knife by Christofle, France. The handle is in a classic plain pattern with a stylized monogram on the terminal showing overlapping letters, possibly LF. The collar features a small square punch containing the letter O on the left, a central symbol of a balance scale, and the letter C on the right, which is the standard mark utilized by Christofle to denote silver-plated wares. The steel blade is stamped Christofle over FRANCE.

The third item is a dessert or butter knife by Mappin and Webb. The fluted handle features an oval monogram cartouche engraved with a stylized entwined monogram, likely JS or SJ. The blade is decorated with an engraved grape and vine motif. The reverse of the blade is stamped in three lines MAPPIN and WEBB, PRINCES’ PLATE, and RD 71552.

Christofle dining knife length: 20.5 cm
Button hook length: 21.5 cm
