Lot 41: Two Sterling Silver Mechanical Pencils Including an American Engraved Slider Example
A pair of sterling silver writing instruments. The first is an American mechanical propelling slider pencil featuring an ornate hand-engraved foliate and floral design throughout the barrel. It utilizes a side-mounted sliding mechanism to extend and retract the lead. The barrel features an engraved cartouche with the name James Pullan in cursive script and the initials A.H. engraved near the top. The item is marked on a band near the top finial with 925 inside an oval, an additional maker mark inside a lozenge-shaped shield, and U.S.A. S. The second item is a miniature sterling silver lead holder with a plain, polished finish and a rounded bulbous finial. It is stamped STERLING SILVER on the upper shaft near the finial.
