Lot 9: A Pair of Edwardian Art Nouveau Sterling Silver-Handled Dressing Accessories, Levi & Salaman, Birmingham 1904
A matching pair of dressing accessories by Levi & Salaman, comprising a shoehorn and a button hook with hallmarked silver handles. The hollow-cast handles feature an ornate Art Nouveau embossed pattern of daisies and scrolled foliage. The silver handles bear a clear set of British hallmarks including the maker mark L & S for Levi & Salaman, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant for sterling silver (.925 fineness), and the lowercase date letter e corresponding to the year 1904. The functional ends are constructed from polished steel, with the shoehorn blade bearing the stamped inscription ENGLISH MAKE.
