Lot 262: An Assortment of Early 20th-Century Brass Fireside and Decorative Items in the Dutch Revival Style
An assortment of brass fireside and decorative metalware, likely of British manufacture. The collection includes a rectangular magazine or kindling box, constructed from brass cladding over a wooden frame. The front panel features a repoussé scene in high relief, depicting a tavern interior with figures gathered around a table. The box is fitted with a hinged lid and a decorative brass carrying handle to the top. Also included is a brass coal scuttle or jardiniere of oval, flared form, featuring a swinging bail handle and raised on four cast-brass foliate feet. Decorative foliate mounts are applied to the handle pivot points. The collection is completed by a group of smaller cast-brass items, including a pair of baluster-form candlesticks, a single candlestick of a different pattern, and a small hand-beaten or hammered brass scoop and bowl.
