Lot 330: Two Pairs of Optical Instruments including Asahi Pentax 10x50 Prism Binoculars and Vintage Field Glasses
This lot comprises two pairs of optical instruments with their associated carrying cases. The first pair consists of Asahi Pentax 10×50 prism binoculars manufactured by the Asahi Optical Co. in Japan. The instrument is constructed from metal with a black textured finish and includes a brown leather neck strap. Markings on the left rear plate read ASAHI PENTAX, PRISM BINOCULARS, COATED OPTICS. The right rear plate is marked ASAHI OPTICAL CO., JAPAN, No. 41-08285, 10 X 50 FIELD 5.5 degrees. Both eyepiece cups are marked ASAHI PENTAX. These are housed in a grey textured hard-shell case with a red interior lining. The second pair is a set of vintage Galilean-style field glasses. The barrels are brass with a green textured covering, and the bridge and eyepieces are made of black-painted metal. No maker marks are discernible. These glasses are stored in a distressed brown leather case with a metal buckle closure and leather strap.
