Lot 380: A Vintage Cousances Enameled Cast-Iron Oval Casserole Dish and Lid
An oval enameled cast-iron casserole dish, known as a cocotte, with a matching lid, manufactured by Cousances, France. The exterior is decorated in a graded orange-to-red volcanic enamel finish, a style characteristic of mid-20th-century French culinary ware. The interior features a cream-coloured enamel coating. The dish is fitted with twin integrated side handles and a loop handle to the lid. The unenameled cast-iron base is impressed with a circular mark reading COUSANCES and MADE IN FRANCE, with the number 26 in the centre indicating the size.
